7 Quick Tips to Save When Buying Online

It is easy to spot the item we want and immediately rush to get it. We are all guilty of it and have done it at least once or twice in our life. Here are 7 tips that will help you get what you want but with huge savings in the long run.

Tip #1: Know the market
Always research for similar products to have a price understanding. In most eCommerce websites there are filters that allow you to narrow down your results. Take advantage of these tools, it takes about a minute to get a rough understanding of how the market is doing.

Tip #2: Are there cheaper alternatives?
Can you get a similar product that does the same job but for a cheaper price? Brand name products cost more for their name mainly, but not always for a practical difference.

Tip #3: Avoid getting scammed
This one is obvious, don't get fooled. Know what you are getting, test it, and know that if it is too good to be true, it most likely is. Read more about possible scams here.

Tip #4: Negotiate
Whether you are a negotiator or not, a seller will almost always agree for a 5% price reduction. Simply ask: "How flexible are you with the price?" or "Will you do $X ?".

In order to save more, consider this example: You found a car you like for $3,000. If you offer $2,200 (yes, $800 less), you will be surprised to see how almost 90% of the time, the seller will go half way. In this case, the sell will say: "How about $2,600?". If you managed to do that without any effort, you will be able to do it again. Do not be worried of looking cheap, "low baller", etc. You are making a deal, you are a negotiator now, and it is their choice to agree or decline. Like Grant Cardone says: "sell or be sold".

Tip #5: Written price confirmation
The difference between price confirmation and negotiation is that confirming a price allows you security that the seller/buyer knows what to expect. Always have a written price confirmation between you and the seller (or buyer). You do not want to waste your time agreeing on one price over the phone, show up, and suddenly the price has changed. It will either force you into spending/losing more than you were prepared for or simply waste your time which is worth money too. While confirming the price may allow for a mutual understanding, it will all come down to the quality of the product in the transaction.

For example, you agreed with a seller to by their iphone 6 for $550. When you arrive, the phone is chipped all over the body although the seller said it is in a mint condition. Obviously there is going to be some price negotiation at that point.

Tip #6: Dealers charge more
It is a known fact that dealers will triple the price for anything to make profit. Make sure you look around before getting a service or buying an item from a dealer. Most of the time you can find the exact same offer from a private seller and at a much lower price.

Tip #7: Subscribe to RSS Feeds
Get the latest updates about the specific thing you are after. RSS Feeds are great for instant notifications when a new item is posted within your specified criteria.

How to get RSS feeds? Find the little orange RSS icon RSS either at the address bar, the top section next to the menu area or at the footer menu area of the site, once you click on it, a page will open up with options to save the subscription with a method of your choice. It is as simple as that.
